October, 2008 — 7:30 pm Since its founding in 1983 by Michael Levine, the Dallas Brass has become one of America’s foremost musical ensembles. The group has established a unique blend of traditional brass instruments with a full complement of drums and percussion, which creates a performing entity of extraordinary range and musical challenges. The Dallas Brass repertoire includes classical masterpieces, Dixieland, swing, Broadway, Hollywood and patriotic music. According to Mr. Levine, "a Dallas Brass concert is intended for the entire family. Our ideal audience has a range in ages from 5 to 95. Our goal is to entertain and enrich by playing great music, while showing our audience how much we enjoy what we do." Our program, An American Musical Journey, incorporates a full complement of brass and percussion for a musical travelogue through American history. From the time of George Washington to the present day – music will be selected from the masters – Copland, Bernstein, Gershwin, Berlin, John Williams, Sousa; from bands like the Tijuana Brass and Chicago; and styles from Dixieland, swing, Broadway, folk, patriotic, pop, and even hip-hop! There is definitely “something for everybody”. The EDLOS A Cappella and Comedy
November, 2008 — 7:30 pm The EDLOS are a contemporary a cappella quartet. With their operatic training, the EDLOS are known for their powerful voices and their broad comic approach to live performance. They are most renowned for their shows' multiple costume changes and sight gags. The EDLOS have won numerous industry awards, including the 1989 Harmony Sweepstakes championship. They have made featured appearances for NPR and PBS, and have accompanied tours by Ray Charles and the rock group Chicago. They will be performing their new show, "A Cappella Broadway". Mark Nizer Juggler
February, 2009 — 7:00 pm Mark Nizer has changed the way people view the world. The impossible is possible, the improbable is probable. Since winning the International Juggling Championships Mark has taken his one man show to thousands of venues around the world, including The Improv, the Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Don’t miss the combination of original comedy, world class juggling, movement, music and technology that promises a spellbinding evening. Whether juggling laser beams at 1000 rpms, or five ping pong balls being thrown 20 feet in the air using only his mouth; or even juggling a burning propane tank, a running electric carving knife and a 16-pound bowling ball, you'll discover for yourself that Mark Nizer is truly "the juggler your mother warned you about." Or if she didn't, she should have. Susanne Hou Violinist
March, 2009 — 7:30 pm A Canadian violinist garnering much attention on the international music scene today, Ms. Yi-Jia Susanne Hou has left her mark in music history by being the first violinist ever to capture 3 Gold Medals with unanimous decisions at international violin competitions.
